Room News
The Office of the Registrar has created a calendar for all Bulletin, Course Schedule and Room Assignment deadlines. Please take a moment to look over these dates. The items that are highlighted with color are for the Bulletin.Romanaggi 203 has now been updated to a Smart Classroom! All classrooms on campus are now Smart Classrooms. Remember a smart classroom includes the following: an instructor computer, built-in projector & screen, DVD/VCR combo, computer hook-up, wireless internet, and powered ceiling speakers.
EMS Campus Planning Interface (CPI)
Room requests should be entered directly into EMS CPI as Room Preferences. Faculty and staff can enter these preferences by going to EMS Campus Planning Interface .* These preferences will be used to optimize room assignments for each semester.**
There are 4 phases of the room assignment process:
- Set Preferences Phase EMS CPI Help Sheet
- Optimization Phase
- Rooms Finalized & Published
- Final Exam Room Assignment
The Set Preferences Phase should be done approximately 1-2 semesters prior to the semester in which you are working on. You may login to EMS CPI to see what phase the semester is in. If it is not available to view, the upcoming schedule has not been uploaded into EMS yet. If it is listed, but no changes are allowed, then it is in the Optimization or Finalized Phase (this will be noted).
To edit a preference request after the Set Preferences Phase of assignment has ended or to change a classroom that has already been assigned, you must fill out the
Room/Feature Request Form
and submit it to
classrooms@up.edu
.** Requests to this email address will be responded to as soon as possible.
There are three sheets that describe the academic classrooms. One is the
Academic Classroom Setup
, which lists each room grouped with similar room types. The other is
Classroom Definitions
, which gives a definition of the room types and examples of each type of room. We also have a Feature Definition list that describes each feature of any academic room.
*You must attend a training session (group or individual) to be eligible for a login and password for access to EMS CPI. Please contact your dean/department chair to find out if you or the office manager are responsible for entering the preferences.
**This does not guarantee that you will get the space/feature you requested. Please understand we will do our best to find a room to meet your teaching requirements.
Virtual EMS
To request an additional class space or session(s) (i.e. lab meeting, review session) please make the request through Virtual EMS. If the session directly relates to course content, make sure to enter Event Type as one of the following to ensure it gets academic priority.
1. Class Meeting (Academic ONLY)
2. Exam – Class (Academic ONLY)
3. Final Exam (Academic ONLY)
4. Laboratory (Academic ONLY)
5. Review Session (Academic ONLY)
Also include the course subject and number in the title of the event. The Registrar’s Office will continue to respond to these Academic requests. See Virtual EMS Help Sheet or check the Events webpage for additional information. Contact the Events Office (events@up.edu) to request training for Virtual EMS.
