Shepard Freshman Resource Center: First-Year Parent Referral Alert
First-Year Parent Referral Alert
One of the goals of the Shepard Freshman Resource Center is to provide assistance to every first-year student to ensure a successful first year of studies and help them to remain at the University of Portland. In working to attain that goal, we consider the parents of our first-year students an essential partner, and we recognize that parents are often the first to hear about or notice issues their students are struggling to overcome.
The Parent Referral Alert is a system wherein parents of first-year students can notify the Shepard Freshman Resource Center of a medical/physical, emotional, academic, or personal concern they have regarding their student. A staff member at the SFRC will review the alert, assess the situation, and work with the parent to connect the student with the proper on-campus resources.
Parents with such concerns are asked to fill out the short online form linked below. After the form is submitted, a staff member at the SFRC will be in contact with the referring family member.

Parents of upperclassmen who have similar concerns should utilize the Early Alert system.
