Studies Abroad: Fremantle Semester FAQ
Yes, the program coordinator will help students obtain their visas. Detailed instructions on how to apply for visas online will also be supplied. Students may only begin the application within 90 days prior to departure. Please note that students must have their passports before the visa application process can begin. The visa application fee will be paid for by the Study Abroad Office and is included in the overall cost of the program.
A foreign language is not required, but students should remember that the usage of some words is different and strong accents might make it a challenge to understand the citizens of Australia.
On average, students spend $2,000 to $3,000 during the semester. If students plan on traveling before, during, or after the program, they should plan on spending more than this amount. If students have signed up to take BS307: Business in Asia or PL3016: Strategy and Security in the Asia Pacific Region, additional fees will be required. It is very important for the student to budget his or her money so as not to run out of funds early in the semester.
This program is flexible. Typically, Business and College of Arts and Sciences majors are able to take classes that fit with their majors. Students can check with their advisors and Fr. Art Wheeler to make sure that this program is appropriate for them.
Students live at the Hotel Cleopatra residence hall in groups of one to three. Rooms have pillows, sheets, and bedspreads, as well as a fan, alarm clock, extension cord, and a 4 power-point plug-in, and towels. Students are given an allowance to purchase their meals. A kitchen, common room, and computer lab are available for student use, as well as telephones and coin-operated laundry machines.

Fall semester begins in July and ends in November. Spring semester begins in mid-February and ends mid-June.
The Australia Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 programs cost $24,795.
Students are required to take Australian History and Society. A variety of other courses are available in business, the humanities, and the sciences.
