Studies Abroad: Rome Semester FAQ
Yes, students will work with the program coordinator and John Cabot University to get their applications for visas.
The University of Portland does not offer any Italian language courses, so students cannot take it before they leave, however, they are required to take Italian while they are at John Cabot University.
Students need to budget according to how much outside traveling and spending they will do. Meal allowances will be given and all housing is paid for.
This program can fit with a variety of majors. Students take classes from John Cabot University and as a result have the opportunity to choose from a variety of courses. This allows the student’s schedule to be flexible, which could help in finding classes that would fulfill core requirements. Students can check with their advisors and the Studies Abroad office to make sure the curriculum offered at John Cabot is best to fulfill their requirements.
Yes, students can do so upon arrival at John Cabot University.
The apartments are furnished with bed linens, towels, and kitchen equipment. Most apartments have washing machines but do not have dryers.
Rome has a mild climate and is famous for its sunny days. In the fall, students will start out wearing summer clothes but by December they will need a jacket and a sweater. The fall semester temperature ranges from 45-85 F.
The Fall 2013 Rome program runs from August to December.
The Rome Fall 2013 program cost is $24,795.
Students will take courses at John Cabot University and as a result have a large variety of courses to choose from including Art History, Italian studies, Business Administration, International relations, Communications, and more.
