Academic Overview

At University of Portland, you can fulfill your potential and become who you want to be. Here, you will learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and respond ethically so that you can cultivate your best self. You will be prepared not just for a career, but for life.

All undergraduates take a core curriculum of classes in literature, philosophy, theology, history, math, science, and the social sciences. You will gather and assess evidence, examine the natural world and universe, and explore and learn from cultures, histories, and religious traditions both past and present. You will also have access to a wide range of academic opportunities. We are the only university in Oregon that offers a College of Arts and Sciences; Schools of Business, Education, Engineering, and Nursing; and a Graduate School. This diversity means you can select from 40 undergraduate programs, 33 minors, 20 graduate programs, and more than 1,300 courses.
