Claire McKinley Yoder has been teaching nursing for sixteen years at Oregon Health Sciences University in the areas of child, maternal, and community health and is excited to join the University of Portland. She has been a nurse for over twenty years with roles in pediatric acute care, as a pediatric nurse practitioner, and in managing community programs. Claire received her M.S.N. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program and is currently a candidate for a Ph.D. in nursing at Villanova University. Claire has presented on nursing education at a number of conferences, including those of the Oregon Consortium of Nursing Education, the National League for Nursing Education, and in Rwanda. She has been involved in research since 2012, and currently has two studies in progress with a focus on social determinants of health and population health. Claire is currently involved in a broad-based community organization working to address local housing shortages.
