Jordyn (Jordy) Wolfand

Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering, Shiley School of Engineering

Jordyn (Jordy) WolfandJordyn (Jordy) Wolfand is a water resources engineer who is passionate about finding innovative ways to manage water, particularly in urban areas. Prior to joining UP, she was a postdoctoral scholar in civil and environmental engineering at Colorado School of Mines. She completed her master’s and doctoral degrees at Stanford University as part of the engineering research center Re-inventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt). Her research lies at the intersection of urban hydrology, water quality engineering, and data science. Select recent projects in this area include simulating pesticide concentrations in urban watersheds, assessing the effectiveness of green infrastructure systems to reduce bacteria, modeling effects of wastewater reuse on environmental flows, and using remote sensing data to quantify urban irrigation rates. A former outdoor educator, Jordy is enthusiastic about bringing active and engaging learning techniques into the classroom. Originally from Maryland, Jordy completed a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering at Tufts University before working for several years in engineering consulting. She has always wanted to live in the Pacific Northwest and is excited to spend time in the nearby forests, rivers, and mountains.
