Salvador Orara

Salvador OraraPrior to arriving at UP, Salvador Orara was an adjunct at Pacific Northwest College of Art focusing on interactive media and facilitated workshops on creative foresight tactics and rapid prototyping with Make+Think+Code. He served as a founding faculty member of the Interaction Design Program at ArtCenter College of Design and as faculty of graphic design at Woodbury University in Burbank. Salvador was the lead user experience researcher at Jaguar Land Rover’s Global Digital Development Portland Hub where he led and managed cross-functional teams through research and agile software design to test prototypes for future in-vehicle infotainment. He was also a senior multidisciplinary designer at The Map Office, contributing to the studio’s migration into Pentagram. Salvador earned his B.F.A. in graphic design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and his M.F.A. in media design practices from ArtCenter College of Design. He has published works with IEEE VISAP, Leonardo On-line LABS, and the School of Visual Arts. As a design entrepreneur, Salvador continues to build and run his consulting startup, Affection Research Lab. He volunteers as chapter president of the AIGA Portland Chapter, spearheading their Design Futures Committee with the mission to embed the voice of the community in strategic decisions. When possible, he develops his experimental sound practice.
