Dr. Dilip Kumar Paul earned a Ph.D. in electroanalytical chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and completed both a master's degree and undergraduate degree in chemistry at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. While at VCU, Dilip developed a new method to monitor reactions at the oil-water interface. Before joining UP, he worked as a process engineer and quality and reliability engineer at Intel Corporation and has teaching experience at Willamette University, Brescia University, Clark College, and Clackamas Community College. In his teaching career, Dilip instructs various upper and lower-level chemistry and biochemistry lectures and lab classes. He enjoys teaching a variety of chemistry and biochemistry courses and finds great satisfaction in teaching foundational chemistry classes, where he can inspire and engage students who are just beginning their scientific journeys. Lab classes are another favorite, as they provide hands-on experiences that bring theoretical concepts to life and encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As an educator, Dilip aims to inspire students to draw upon their cultural and familial backgrounds as essential assets for learning, leadership, and driving social change. Drawn to teaching at UP, he values its commitment to holistic education and the integration of faith and reason in the learning process. He seeks to bring his industry and teaching experience into the classroom, fostering a comprehensive and integrated learning environment for his students. Dilip is thrilled to be at UP and looks forward to gaining insights from the student community. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, and hiking.
