Fr. Tyler Kreipke, C.S.C., Ph.D.

Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Shiley School of Engineering

Fr. Tyler Kreipke, C.S.C., was born and raised in Indiana, completing all of his education there before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2023. He attended the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for his undergraduate studies, majoring in biomedical engineering, with a concentration in biomaterials and a minor in German. From there, he went to the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his doctorate in bioengineering, focusing on bone mechanobiology. While pursuing his graduate studies, Tyler also began discerning a call to the priesthood in the Congregation of Holy Cross. After graduating with his Ph.D., Tyler entered the seminary at Notre Dame. He received his master of divinity in the spring of 2023, professed final vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross that fall, and was ordained to the priesthood in April 2024. Tyler finds great joy in being able to bring together the two vocations of being a priest and faculty in engineering. He hopes to provide an education that will help lead his students into the fullness of human flourishing and that will make them not just talented engineers, but people of virtue who will serve as a force for good in this world. Outside of his ministerial and professional life, Tyler likes being outside and appreciating the beauty of creation, especially while biking, running, and hiking. He also enjoys practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, reading, and drawing.
