Technical Sergeant Joshua A. Marafino joined the United States Air Force in April 2013, graduating from the Security Forces Apprentice course at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas in September 2013. Previous duties include installation patrolman and custody flight sergeant. His assignments include MacDill Air Force Base, Florida with the 6th Security Forces Squadron and Ghedi Air Base, Italy with the 704th Munitions Support Squadron. He has also deployed in support of Operations Freedom Sentinel and Inherent Resolve being a part of the first Guardian Angel team in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2015. He graduated from the Education and Training Apprentice course at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi in July 2020 and was assigned to Fort Lee, Virginia as part of the 345th Training Squadron, providing joint technical training for aerial port operations, hazardous materials handling, parachute rigging, equipment packing, culinary arts, fitness specialists, and traffic management for more than 7,000 basic and advanced students annually. Prior to joining the University of Portland, he served as a training management element chief for the 8th Maintenance Group at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea. In that position he led four training managers who oversaw the training management, maintenance training scheduling, and en route training for three squadrons and 1,200 members. He ensured course forecasting, student scheduling, special certification rosters, and ancillary training. When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time going on adventures with his family.
