Craig Swinyard '98
Craig Swinyard has a long association with the University which began in 1994, his freshman year. He graduated from the University with a bachelor of arts in mathematics in 1998. As a student, he was a member of the Honors Program and lived in Villa Maria all four years, serving as a resident assistant his junior and senior years. After graduation he worked in the Office of Residence Life as an assistant hall director in Corrado Hall from 1999-2001. Craig earned a master of science in teaching mathematics in 2002 and his Ph.D. in mathematics education in 2008, both from Portland State University. He joined the University's math faculty as an assistant professor in 2008. In 2014, he received tenure and was promoted to associate professor. Ken Hallenius '13
Ken Hallenius is the associate director of Alumni Relations. He joined the department in 2007, after working for seven years in Residence Life as director of Haggerty & Tyson Halls (2003-07) and assistant director of Kenna Hall (2001-03). Before coming to UP, Ken explored a religious vocation to the priesthood in the Order of Preachers (the Dominicans). He also worked in software quality assurance and as a volunteer youth minister. He earned his M.A. in Pastoral Ministry at UP, did postgraduate studies in Philosophy and Religion at Harrison Middleton University, holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, and studied history at Saint Meinrad College. In his spare time, Ken is an avid reader, a homebrewer, serves as a lector and directs the RCIA process at his parish, and is an aspiring Jeopardy! contestant. Katie Mitchell '09
Katie Mitchell ’09 manages marketing communications and online engagement for Alumni Relations. Katie joined the University in the summer of 2014 (just in time for Reunion!) and has a background in writing and social media marketing. Nancy Nofziger is the administrative assistant for Alumni Relations and is advisor to the Student Alumni Association. Nancy joined the University in the spring of 2013 and is the parent of a current student. Prior to working at UP, she worked at PacifiCorp as an administrative assistant and 10 years later ended as a hydro resource specialist when she decided to stay home to raise her 3 children. She is also very involved at St. Juan Diego Catholic Church where, among many other duties, she served as President of the Pastoral Council and is currently in the choir.
