Graduate School: Moreau Fellows
Moreau Fellows
In the spring of 2010 two of our graduates have attained the distinction of Moreau Fellow; Paul Pham, from our MAPM program, and Margaret Rystrom, from our AEM UP program.
Paul Pham , a deacon aspirant, has excelled in the four MAPM competency areas: academics, participation in community, spiritual formation and development of ministry skills. In order to practice his faith Paul was forced to leave his home in Vietnam, where he was a boat person. Earning his B.S. in Electrical-Electronics at Portland State University he has worked for Pacific Power & Light, Epson Portland, Inc. and for the past eight years he has been the owner-manager of three Taco Del Mar restaurants in Portland. Paul is very involved in Portland’s Vietnamese Catholic community and uses his gift of humility and passion for others in service regularly.
Margaret Rystrom entered the AEM UP program as a second degree student with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology-Corrections from California State University, Fresno. Her desire was to help troubled, unproductive people find a healthier path, but after raising and nurturing four children the calling to intervene in a more spiritual and nurturing manner had emerged, leading her to the University’s AEM UP program for development in a different venue to which she could reach those searching for a healthier path. Dr. Moscato describes Margaret as ‘personable, intelligent, motivated, passionate and highly competent, she has become an excellent nurse and an articulate voice for the poor and vulnerable’.
