Thursday, January 8, 2026

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Residence Hall Move-In, Pilot House. UP.

For those new students who will be living on campus, check in at the Pilot House to pick up your keys and move-in information. If you need assistance connecting to the UP WiFi, or connecting your devices, representatives from the Help Desk will be on hand to assist you.

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Acquire Student ID Card, Haggerty 100. U.

If you have not already, visit the Campus Safety Office to acquire your student ID card, also known as “Pilot Card.” Pilot Cards are the official form of identification on campus and are used for access to various buildings and athletic events, checking out library books, and using meal points.

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Student Employment Support, Pilot House. U.

Many students choose to work during their college experience, either on campus or through a local community partner. If you would like to work, you will need to complete your Federal I-9 and Federal and State W4 forms in order to be eligible for a campus job. Please stop by the student employment table at the Pilot House for information and support. You will need certain documents to complete these forms; please refer to this link for more information: Student Employee Check List. It is also recommended that students take this time to set up direct deposits for payments and refunds.

5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Welcome Dinner Social with University Leadership, Bauccio Commons. UP.

Join us to experience Holy Cross hospitality at a relaxed, social gathering to meet fellow students and connect with members of the university’s leadership team. Dinner and refreshments will be provided.

By appointment - International Student Orientation Session, Buckley Center 112. U.

International Student Orientation is required for any F-1 or J-1 student new to University of Portland. Please contact the International Student Services Offices to make an appointment by calling 503-943-7367 or via email at iss@up.edu. Students in other visa statuses, or with dual US citizenship/residency are welcome to join us but not required.

9:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. - Check In. U.

10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Welcome Presentation/Meet Dr. Kelly, Pilot House. UP.

University President Dr. Robert Kelly will provide a personal welcome to you as you begin your UP journey. Orientation leaders and staff will introduce key campus resources, expectations, and opportunities for student success.

10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.-Anchoring Families & Supporters to UP, Dundon-Berchtold 133, P.

Join Associate Director of Family Engagement, Corey Mehl, who will welcome new Pilot families to the Bluff.  Discussion will include a helpful syllabus for first-year parents, families, and supporters and how to join the Pilot Family Portal.  We will then be joined by our keynote speaker, Vice President for Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence, Dr. Alvin Sturdivant, who will address key areas of student development in which both parents and the University can work together for each student's success.

11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. - Anchor/Transfer Sessions, Shiley 301/319. U.

First year students will meet in their Anchor Seminar groups; this session will count for attendance in their Anchor Workshop class. Transfer students will connect with peers and staff to learn more about transitioning smoothly into the UP community.

12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch and Title IX/Green Dot Conversation, Bauccio Commons. U.

Enjoy lunch with members of the Wellness and Title IX teams while learning about consent, respect, and building a safe, supportive campus culture.

1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Campus Resource Tour, departing from Bauccio Commons. U.

Tour key offices and facilities with Orientation Assistants, including the Learning Commons, Clark Library, The Health Center, and Beauchamp Recreation Center. Navigate buildings and find your classes before the semester officially starts!

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. - Drop in Hours for Academic Advising. U.

Enjoy a relaxed evening with great food and even better company! This is a perfect chance to connect with other students, unwind, and share good conversations in a fun, social setting.

 

Saturday, January 10, 2026

1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Explore Portland. U.

Navigate the Portland mass transit system, TriMet, on a trip to downtown Portland. Visit Powell’s Bookstore, and other iconic Portland sites.

4:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Pregame Meet Up, Pilot House. U.

Get ready to cheer on the Pilots! Meet other new students before the game, grab a free piece of UP spirit wear (like a t-shirt or scarf), and learn some campus chants. We'll walk over to the Chiles Center together to support the team.

5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. - Men’s Basketball vs. Oregon State University, Chiles Center. U.

Cheer on the Pilots as they take on Oregon State! Admission is free for students with a valid Pilot Card. Show your school spirit and enjoy an exciting game night on campus.
