Know Before You Go

Due to anticipated crowds, please arrive early for any event you're attending.

COVID-19 Policies

With the COVID-19 virus still circulating, our UP community shares the following important information to help ensure a safe and successful Commencement:

  • We strongly recommend that visitors wear masks inside our venues and at all Commencement events, except while eating or drinking.  As a courtesy, masks will be available at multiple locations.

  • We also strongly recommend that Commencement participants and graduating students wear masks during our ceremonies.  However, when speaking at the podium, crossing the main stage, receiving degrees and awards, or posing for photographs, they may consider temporarily removing their mask.

  • Throughout the 2021-22 academic year, vaccinations and boosters have been required of all UP students, faculty and staff. While we will not be checking the vaccination status of our Commencement visitors and guests, we ask that attendees also be vaccine and booster compliant or have a negative COVID test within 72 hours of our ceremonies.

Bag Policy

Backpacks, duffel bags or bags larger than 12" x 12" x 6" are prohibited.

Be prepared for inspection as you enter the Chiles Center Plaza. The inspection will include the use of metal detectors. Please remove everything from your pockets and have all zippers and pouches on bags open and ready for inspection. Should you bring a bag, it will be searched and may slow down your entry time.

While we will do everything to be as quick and efficient as possible, we encourage guests to please arrive well in advance of the scheduled event start time in order to allow ample time to enter the facility.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to create a safe environment.
