Insurance Requirements

When insurance is requested from a group, the group must provide the following: 

The group must provide University with the Certificate of Insurance showing evidence of the types and minimum amounts of insurance coverage with the following endorsement: "The University of Portland and its regents, officers, employees, agents, and volunteers are added as Primary Non-Contributory Additional Insured." If the insurance is canceled or materially changed for any reason, Group must notify University immediately, and University reserves the right to terminate agreement. 

  • A policy of Commercial General Liability insurance in an amount of not less than One Million Dollars ($1,000,000), single limit, per occurrence, and $2,000,000 in the aggregate against claims for bodily injury, death, and property damage occurring in connection with Group's use of the Space. The Commercial General Liability policy must cover Group’s liability for claims that arise from activities sponsored by Group but conducted on premises not owned by Group.

  • If Group will be transporting Attendees or Personnel, Automobile liability insurance for bodily injury, personal injury, and property damage for vehicles owned, non-owned, or hired, with policy limits of not less than One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) combined single limit. If Group does not provide evidence of required coverage, Group warrants that it will not be driving or providing transportation to Group Personnel or Attendees;

  • Worker’s Compensation Insurance coverage of not less than statutory limits and employer’s liability insurance coverage with limits not less than One Million Dollars ($1,000,000), for all persons whom it employs or may employ in carrying out Group’s event. This insurance shall be in strict accordance with the requirements of the most current and applicable state Worker’s Compensation laws;

  • If Group's Attendees are minor children, Group's insurance must include coverage for physical/sexual abuse/molestation/assault and harassment at a minimum of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) per occurrence, with no exclusions or sub limits on such coverage.

  • If Group's event or use of Space includes athletic contests or activities, Group's insurance must include coverage for injuries caused to athletic participants.

  • Group agrees that the insurance shall be primary coverage, and the insurers waive subrogation rights against University for any injuries or damages.

  • University reserves the right to require greater coverage amounts for these or other events, and to require other types of coverage for other events based on levels of risk.

  • Group agrees to cooperate fully with University in any University investigation of any claim or potential claim made by any person or organization in connection with services provided under this Agreement or use of the Space, Equipment, or any other University facilities by the Group. Further, Group’s records and books shall be made available to University upon request for inspection or copying. Group agrees to inform University immediately of any claim of injury, abuse, assault, harassment, or violation of state or federal law in connection with use of Space, Equipment, or other University facilities by Group.

  • Group will be responsible for amounts excluded from insurance due to deductible amounts on non-covered items.
