Tutor Training

If you think that peer tutoring is all about explaining material to students, think again! The role of the peer tutor in the Learning Commons is to facilitate active and self-regulated learning.

The Learning Commons offers training to all its peer educators and tutors that is in line with the College Reading and Learning Association's Level 1 International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC). We are currently applying to certify our tutor training so that our tutors can be officially certified as ITTPC-Level 1 tutors. The Learning Commons will develop in the next year further training modules for Level 2 and Level 3 of the ITTPC.

Find out more about how to become a peer tutor in the Learning Commons by contacting Jeffrey White, Learning Commons Administrator at or drop by his office in BC 163.

We also provide training to other programs on campus that hire peer educators and assistants. If your program would like to find out more, contact us!
