Tutor Training

If you think that peer tutoring is all about explaining material to students, think again! The role of the peer tutor in the Learning Commons is to facilitate active and self-regulated learning.

The Learning Commons offers training to its peer educators and tutors that is recognized by the College Reading and Learning Association at Level 1 of the International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC).

The Learning Commons also facilitates other training. Writing Assistants are trained during a 3-credit course (English 317 - ENG 317 Composition Theory and Practice) and our PAL facilitators receive extensive training on planning and facilitating collaborative group learning sessions.
