August 14, 2018

Last week members of the UP community gathered together to sign and bless a beam that will be part of the new Dundon-Berchtold Hall, currently under construction in the heart of the University’s campus. University President Rev. Mark L. Poorman, C.S.C., officiated at the blessing.

The building is made possible by a lead gift of $15 million from Amy Dundon-Berchtold and Jim Berchtold '63.

Dundon-Berchtold Hall will provide much needed academic space for the campus, including over 63,000 sq. ft. of classrooms, offices, and the Brian Doyle Lecture Hall. The hall will also be home to the Dundon-Berchtold Institute for Moral Formation and Applied Ethics.

Many of the classrooms in the hall will be designed for interactive learning, with spaces that are equipped with moveable furniture and updated technology. Other “cluster” classrooms will be used for small groups of students to work cooperatively and collaboratively together on projects and assignments, a core requirement of many University courses across all disciplines.

Dundon-Berchtold Hall is set for completion in June 2019.
