The University of Portland celebrated its Commencement on Sunday, May 6 with nearly 1,200 graduates projected to earn degrees, making the Class of 2018 the largest graduating class in the University’s history.

From studying abroad in Austria to his active participation in on-campus life, Hampel looks back at his time at the University fondly and described commencement weekend as a “bittersweet” celebration of his time at UP.

Hyster-Yale Group design engineer Jimmy Anderson ’14 is working with mechanical engineering students to develop an alternative steering design for forklifts. The team hopes to create a smaller and less obtrusive steering wheel.
