University of Portland ranked top university in Oregon in Kiplinger’s “Best College Values: Private Universities” for 2019

According to Kiplinger's Best College Values 2019, the University of Portland is the top ranked private university in Oregon for offering the best value for students based on academic quality, cost, and financial aid measures. The University was ranked 51st last year, rising three spots in the latest rankings among all private universities nationwide.

Holy Cross priest and University of Portland professor Rev. Claude Pomerleau, C.S.C., passed away on the morning of Sunday, July 21. After a long battle with cancer, Fr. Pomerleau resided for the last month at the Holy Cross nursing home in Notre Dame, Indiana. During this time, he enjoyed many meaningful visits with family and friends that gave him deep peace as he passed from this life.

Shiley School of Engineering mechanical engineering professor Heather Dillon has been named Fulbright Canada Research Chair in STEM Education by Fulbright Canada. Dillon will test a STEM faculty peer observation protocol at the University of Calgary from August to December 2019.

Michael Lewellen, former Portland Trail Blazers executive, appointed new vice president for marketing and communications at University of Portland

Michael E. Lewellen has been appointed to the newly formed position of vice president for marketing and communications. He will lead the offices of marketing and communications, public affairs, and printing and mailing services effective July 15.
