5 Questions with ASUP President Emma Fuller ‘23

We checked in with ASUP President Emma Fuller '23, to find out some of the challenges that students face today, and hear her plans for the future.

1. What are some of the things you like most about returning to campus after more than a year away?

I love studying in the Clark library because it gives me a sense of community and company. Knowing there are other students around who are also studying keeps me motivated. Additionally, I love being able to see the (half) faces of everyone in each of my classes. Zoom did not give me a good representation of who my classmates were, especially when half of the class had their cameras off.

2. What do you see as some of the biggest challenges students face in attending college during a pandemic?

One of the biggest challenges for students is staying motivated and feeling like their work matters. In a world full of unknowns, students have a lot on their minds outside of school, so finding a balance between life, work, and school can be challenging.

3. What do you do to find joy, comfort and/or motivation when things get you down?

In all honesty, I love FaceTiming my parents in California. They are my biggest fans, so when I am feeling down, I can always rely on them (and my cat) to cheer me up.

4. You’ve been involved with ASUP since your first year when you served as a Freshman Senator. What draws you to participate in student government?

When you leave to go to college, one of the phrases you hear the most is “Put yourself out there!” That is what inspired me to be the freshman class senator. Fast-forward to now, I am still involved because I love the way student government connects me to others on campus.

5. You’re double majoring in Business Administration and Mathematics and minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. What would be your dream job after graduation?

My underlying dream when I graduate is to be CEO of my own fashion company. I chose my majors to have a solid foundation in different areas, but I want to keep my options open!
