Here at UP, Thanksgiving isn’t just a holiday for feasting, it’s a state of mind — a feeling of gratitude we strive for every day of the year. We recently asked members of the UP community what they’re thankful for. Here are some of the responses we received.

“I am thankful that my daughter is part of such a loving, inspiring, and supportive community at UP.” — Christopher Simmons, UP parent

“This year, I am grateful for the opportunity to relocate to the gorgeous green state of Oregon and to be welcomed into a new professional environment with shared values and an appreciation for the work I do in relation to my calling. I am also super grateful for the claw-foot bathtub in my new home.” 😊 — Maraina Montgomery, Director, Study Abroad

“I am grateful for the beautiful fall leaves, good conversation with students and colleagues, and taking walks.” — Holly Peterson, Study Abroad Program Coordinator

“I’m thankful for the fact that I get to spend my senior year on campus, working, taking classes, and participating in clubs with my fellow UP students one more time! I am also thankful for all the great albums that have come out this year, making my time listening to music that much more enjoyable.” — Rylee Mattson ‘22

“I am so thankful to be part of such a driven, passionate, and creative team in the study abroad office. I am infinitely grateful for family and friends, all the adorable dogs I see around town, and for the calming sounds of rain!” — Brenna Schumacher ‘23
