University of Portland Vice President for Athletics Scott Leykam will serve as the NCAA Women's Soccer Committee Chair for the 2022-23 Academic Year.

University of Portland Vice President for Athletics Scott Leykam will serve as the NCAA Women's Soccer Committee Chair for the 2022-23 Academic Year.

"It is an honor to be selected as Chair of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Committee," Leykam said. "I look forward to working alongside an outstanding group of administrators and coaches from all over the country over the next 12 months. I'm also pleased that the University of Portland continues to play an important role in collegiate women's soccer – past, present and future."

Leykam began his four-year term on the committee back in 2019, with this year marking his first as committee chair. Leykam has served on several boards since coming to Portland in 2012. He's held several positions with the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association, including serving as president for the 2019-20 season. Leykam is on the board of directors for Sport Oregon, Special Olympics of Oregon and Positive Coaching Alliance Portland Chapter as well. Previously, he served a six-year term as chair of the West Coast Conference Basketball Cabinet and a four-year term on the NCAA Championships and Sports Management Cabinet.

The Pilots have a long history as a women's soccer powerhouse. They've made 21 total appearances in the NCAA Tournament and are one of just seven schools to have won multiple national titles, winning in 2002 and 2005. They've also made the College Cup eight times and have 13 West Coast Conference titles. Portland has produced some of the top players in women's soccer, such as Christine Sinclair, Tiffeny Milbrett, Shannon Mac Millan and Megan Rapinoe.
