In a message to the University of Portland staff and faculty, Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing, and Web Services Mai Nhia Xiong-Chan announced the appointment of Mackenzie Stick as the University’s Dean of Admissions.
Stick will begin her new role overseeing the University’s efforts to identify, recruit, and welcome new undergraduate students on Monday, July 14.
Stick joins UP from the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana, where she served as Vice President for Enrollment Management and led the work of admissions, financial aid, and marketing. During her five-year tenure at the private, Catholic institution, Stick developed new data-driven enrollment management strategies while cultivating strong partnerships both within the institution and with external parties.
Prior to her time in Montana, Stick served 14 years in various admissions leadership positions at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Nebraska, and she is frequently called upon to speak at national enrollment management conferences, Xiong-Chan said.
“Among a highly qualified slate of finalists, Mackenzie’s technical knowledge, penchant for collaboration, and proven track record of offering excellent vision and leadership to high-performing teams stood out,” Xiong-Chan said.
“I have long admired UP’s Catholic, Holy Cross commitment to educating the whole person, and I can’t wait to partner with the excellent team in the Office of Admissions who work to help prospective students find their home on The Bluff,” Stick said. “I look forward to collaborating with colleagues across campus to ensure that UP meets its strategic admissions goals and that we welcome even more bright, talented students to The Bluff.”
