Vice President

Rev. John Donato, CSCRev. John J. Donato, C.S.C. began serving as the vice president for student affairs in January of 2016. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and theology from the University of Notre Dame in 1986, where he earned a master of divinity degree in 1990 and a master of science in administration in 1997. He has served as parochial vicar in parishes in Burbank, California; South Bend, Indiana; and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In 2005 he earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Seattle University and subsequently served as director of human development for the seminary and adjunct instructor in theology for the graduate program at Mt. Angel Abbey near Salem. Fr. Donato returned to the University of Portland in 2007 as associate vice president for student development, has been an adjunct instructor in theology for the undergraduate program, and for six months in 2015, also served as the religious superior for the Holy Cross Community. Fr. Donato is the pastoral resident in Fields Hall.
