Study abroad in London for a semester!
Immerse yourself in the world of liberal arts by studying and interning in London, one of the largest international hubs of culture, history, and the arts. This intensive program in a fast-paced city will require you to balance your academic, work, and personal responsibilities while allowing you to make progress towards your educational, professional, and personal goals by experiencing all that London has to offer. London has a very well-connected public transit system, including the "Tube"(metro) and bus. You will be provided with a public transit card ("Oyster card") so that you can explore London and all its secrets to your heart’s content.
We have partnered with Global Education Oregon (GEO) to offer this semester-long program where you’ll take courses from local faculty who are experts in their field. You will take classes at the GEO Centre in the Bloomsbury area of central London. This program offers multi-disciplinary courses in the liberal arts and humanities with an emphasis on experiential learning supplemented by local outings and excursions. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an internship carefully selected to fit your academic and professional goals. Internships are available in many fields, such as the Arts, Business, Start-ups, Marketing/PR, Financial Services, Hospitality & Tourism, HR, Politics, NGOs, Education, Technology and more! Excursions, included in the program and built into the coursework, will give you opportunities to take learning out of the classroom and see other parts of the UK. Locations may change each semester and are not guaranteed but might include locations such as: Bath, Stonehenge, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, Wales, or York.
You will live in shared apartments with other U.S. university students on the program. This program usually has a majority of UP students, but students from other universities in the Pacific Northwest are often part of the program as well. These apartments are often a short commute away from the GEO center or your internship.
Our office will be with you every step of the way. While you apply to this program, you will be able to meet with our staff or one of our Student Advisors who have just returned from their own time abroad. We offer guidance and support during the application process, then we will ensure you are prepared for your trip with mandatory predeparture orientations and informational sessions, and continue to work with you as you reintegrate into the UP campus life.
The cost of this program is similar to the cost of Tuition and Room + Board for a single semester on campus. Institutional aid and scholarships apply. We also have a UP Study Abroad Scholarship you can apply to!
