  &lt;span&gt;Joe Womac, a 2000 graduate of the University of Portland, was recognized this week at the White House as a &amp;#8220;Champion of Change.&amp;#8221; The &lt;a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/champions"&gt;Champions of Change program&lt;/a&gt; honors &amp;#8220;ordinary Americans doing extraordinary things in their communities.&amp;#8221; On Wednesday, nine leaders in Catholic education from around the country were honored for their service to their communities and the nation, and Womac was recognized in part for his dedication and work as the Executive Director of the &lt;a href="http://www.fulcrumfoundation.org/"&gt;Fulcrum Foundation&lt;/a&gt;, based in Seattle, Wash.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;

Hermanny will assist with legal affairs, coordinate the affairs of the University&amp;#8217;s Board of Regents, and serve as a special assistant to the University president.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;

    &lt;span&gt;Starting in May 2012, the library will be renovated and rebuilt for an estimated $12 million, with designs for a new, modern library on the basic root structure of the old.
