Nurse Practitioner, Connections Palliative Care, Providence St. Vincent Medical Center

Major: Nursing

Maryam Saudagaran"As a Providence Scholar, I was able to transition to full-time employment at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center as soon as I graduated. I worked in the Neurovascular Unit, which is where I had my senior capstone rotation precepted by fellow Pilot Kara Gardner MSN RN (UP BSN ’15). To this day she remains one of my greatest mentors.

At St. Vincent, I developed a passion for palliative care. This inspired me to pursue a graduate certificate in palliative care and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of Washington.

Another major influence in my decision to pursue my doctorate was my time as a student representative on SONHI’s Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, where I worked alongside my wonderful nursing professors. I chose UP because of its fantastic undergraduate nursing program but also because it felt right. Little did I know, the people I met would remain my friends and mentors 10 years later!”
