Position: Spirituality Ambassador

Supported by: Campus Ministry

Summary: Couched in the mission of Campus Ministry, which is to provide all members of the community to grow in awareness of God’s presence and God’s invitation to communion, the Spiritual Ambassadors program will provide a leadership opportunity in each residence hall that will ground their hall in this knowledge.  The Spirituality Ambassador Program will be the flagship leader development opportunity within Campus Ministry.  The goal of the Spiritual Ambassador program is to create students who are prepared to exercise spiritual based leadership, to be good citizens of the earth and, ultimately, citizens of heaven.

Applicant Qualities:

  • Passion, interest, and desire to engage and grow in one’s faith and help others do the same.
  • Previous hall involvement and commitment.
  • Participation in Campus Ministry offerings or the equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage peers (build community).
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills to respond to the needs of the hall.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated responsibility and accountability for follow-through on programs and events.
  • Willingness to collaborate with RAs, SJCs, hall ambassadors, and student groups, along with hall staff and Pastoral Residents.

Responsibilities & Required Availability: *

  • Promote spiritually-centered community-building through planning & executing monthly events to help build Christian communities in the residence halls.
  • Attend weekly Hall Mass.
  • Attend and promote attendance at regular Campus Ministry programming (i.e. Fish, Adoration, Catholic Conversations, etc.)
  • Collaborate Pastoral Resident & Hall staff to plan annual Hall Retreat.
  • Collaboration with Hall staff & student leaders in the residence hall (e.g., RAs & SJCs).
  • Presence and support of hall events.
  • Receive 1:1 personal formation with assigned Campus Ministers on a monthly basis.
  • Attend regular communal prayer or worship, either at UP or in local community.
  • Attend twice a semester formation event with the Office of Campus Ministry.
  • Participate in communal faith sharing with fellow Spiritual Ambassadors, assigned by quad, on a regularly arranged basis.

Remuneration

  • Spirituality Ambassadors will receive preferred housing selection options in their assigned residence hall.
  • Spirituality Ambassadors who remain in good-standing with the program into the spring semester will become eligible for a $500 housing stipend.

* The responsibilities of each Spirituality Ambassador may differ slightly because they reflect the unique communities in which you live.  These responsibilities may be adjusted to better fit the community through regular conversations with your Campus Minister supervisor.

** Students of all faith backgrounds are welcome to apply.  The program is couched in and informed by the university's identity as a Catholic, Holy Cross university, utilizing a Christian framework for formation.
