These are some of the many reasons to become a retreat leader! Campus Ministry retreats are possible through the variety of students who share their gifts and time with the community. Here are some opportunities.
Leaven Pre-Orientation Immersion—There are two leadership teams that run the Leaven Immersion. One group plans, prepares, and cooks all the meals during the immersion. A second group organizes and facilitates all of the Leaven experiences. Applications are part of the campus-wide leadership application process and become available at the beginning of the spring semester.
Connect—Student leaders create a hospitable environment for the first-year students on this day-long retreat in September. They lead small groups and activities, share their lived experiences of life on the Bluff, and help the day go smoothly. The three main Campus Ministry student leader groups (Fish Core Team, Servant Leadership Team, and Faith & Formation Ambassadors) form this team.
A prerequisite to a leadership role on EWC is having previously attended the retreat at UP. In April, leaders are selected for the next October Encounter, and in the beginning of November, leaders are selected for the two spring Encounter retreats.
We are eager to bring students’ ideas and gifts into the development of our retreats! If you hope to become involved in retreat leadership outside of (or in addition to) the retreats above, please contact Annie Boyle at boylea@up.edu or 503.943.7889 to discuss opportunities.
