University of Portland’s Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering ranked 26th in nation by U.S. News & World Report

Shiley School of Engineering was ranked 26th in the nation in the 2020 U.S. News & World Report Best Undergraduate Engineering rankings released this week. The Shiley School of Engineering is ranked among universities schools whose highest engineering degree offered is a bachelor's or master's. The full rankings can be seen on the U.S. News & World Report’s website.

"The recent ranking of 26th in the nation affirms what our students and alumni have known for years: that the university offers a superior education and prepares them for rewarding professional and personal lives," said Matthew Kuhn, interim dean of the Shiley School of Engineering.

About the methodology

The U.S. News & World Report undergraduate engineering program rankings were based solely on peer assessment surveys. To appear on an undergraduate engineering survey, a school must have an undergraduate engineering program accredited by ABET, an engineering.

About the Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering

The Donald P. Shiley School of Engineering at the University of Portland prepares engineers and computer scientists to solve technical problems and improve society. The Shiley School of Engineering offers undergraduate degrees in civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering and in computer science. A professional post-baccalaureate degree in computer science is offered for students with a previous bachelor degree. The Shiley School also offers a professional graduate degree in biomedical engineering, as well as customized engineering masters plans.

The Shiley School of Engineering is a member of the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenge Scholars Program (GCSP) and the first institution of higher education in Oregon to join the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN), a small group of universities working together to help engineering students graduate with an entrepreneurial mindset. Because of the Shiley School's robust relationships with industry and its focus on team-based and innovative problem-solving, its graduates have become leaders in their profession and in their wider communities, and graduates have distinguished themselves in their breadth of perspective and their ability to solve society's complex problems.
