Handshake Login Help

Current Students

Go directly to Handshake (https://up.joinhandshake.com/
  1. Click on University of Portland Sign On.
  2. Sign on with your UP user ID and password (enter your email again if prompted).
  3. Spend time completing your entire profile in order to get the best experience and personalized recommendations. Tip: Try uploading your resume first to save time!

Many questions about using Handshake can be answered on their 24-hour support website. Log in, go to Help in the upper right-hand corner and select Knowledge Base. 

For technical support, select Contact Support from the Help menu and create a ticket. 

Access to Handshake is granted for new students after orientation and registration for their first term. Students should be aware that employment scams occur. For more information and recommended steps in the case that you are suspicious, read more about the signs that an internship or job posting may be fraudulent.

Alumni

Go to Handshake (https://up.joinhandshake.com/login)

  1. Select Sign up for an account in the blue box.
  2. Choose Student/Alumni option.
  3. Register a New Account using either your up.edu email address or your personal email address. (Using your up.edu email address requires less steps to register, so if you do use your up email currently, we recommend using that address for your Handshake account.)
  4. You will get a pending email. Once approved, you will get a confirmation email. Please note: Alumni approvals can take up to 24 hours, so please keep checking back and confirming your email in order to access the system.
  5. Confirm your account and be sure to complete your profile all the way for the best experience and personalized recommendations.
  6. Alumni should be aware that employment scams occur. For more information and recommended steps in the case that you are suspicious, read more about the signs that an internship or job posting may be fraudulent.
