Why did you decide to enroll at UP?
I decided to enroll at UP because of the welcoming community, beautiful campus, and the fantastic nursing program. Choosing the University of Portland was definitely the right choice for me, and I’m so glad I took a cross-country leap to the west coast!

Best memory from living in the residence halls?
My best memory from living in Lund Family Hall was our Harry Potter week! We dedicated an entire week to a “tri-wizard tournament,” where we were sorted into one of the four houses of Hogwarts, had daily contests to earn points for those houses, watched one of the movies every night, and had different HP themed activities every day.

Favorite UP activity?
I really love all the activities put on by the people in my dorm! One of my favorites was “Lund Family Feud,” which was held at Pilots After Dark. The answers to the questions were all so funny, and it was just overall a really fun event! Besides dorm events, there’s almost always a fun activity to go to around campus, and I really love that aspect of UP.

Favorite meal served on campus?
All my friends know where I’ll be on Tuesday for dinner, because its Mac and Cheese bar night at the Bauccio Commons! The Broccoli Mac and Cheese is my favorite because I like to try to convince myself that all the pasta and cheese is balanced out by the broccoli. However, I also love the Sunrise Bowl at the Pilot House in the mornings.

Plans after UP?
After graduation, I hope to become employed as a practicing registered nurse, and then eventually furthering my education by getting my Doctorate of Nursing Practice to become a nurse practitioner.

Favorite Portland area destination?
Forest Park is by far my favorite place to be! Being able to go on walks or hikes so close to campus is a dream come true. As a bonus, since we’re only an hour or so from the real mountains and an hour from the beach, there are plenty of fun options, which I absolutely love.

Favorite UP professor?
Anne Santiago has been my favorite professor so far! She taught my World Politics class, and I loved it so much that I am now minoring in Political Science. She is an absolute expert in her field, and I’m so grateful that I was placed in her class.

Favorite UP class?
I’ve really enjoyed the classes I’ve had so far, but if I had to pick a favorite I would say Intro to Nursing. In the class, we talked about a lot of different aspects of healthcare, which I know I will utilize later in my nursing profession. It was really nice to start out my freshman year immediately jumping into my major, rather than taking only required general classes.

Favorite UP event?
Last year, my favorite event was definitely Rock the Bluff! DNCE and Coleman Hell performed, and they were both fantastic. Being able to have a huge dance party with all of my friends, and show some prospective students around campus, was so fun!
