Students who are first in their families to go to college tend to be more at-risk of dropping out of college than their peers. This is true at UP as well as nationally. Academic advisors can support these students in a number of ways in order to raise retention rates of this population and help grow student satisfaction. The brochure below summarizes research about first-generation students and provides guidance on advising these students.
