What are you most excited about for your Next Port?

I am most excited for University of Michigan itself. This school is extremely different than UP, in size, in teaching methods, in location/weather, in football, and I am counting down the days until I get to experience it all. Although I am looking forward to beginning my career and advocating for the vulnerable, I plan to enjoy my final two years of college and live up the big school experience.

What is your favorite memory from UP?

My favorite memory from UP are the memories I created with the people I encountered. Each year I continued to meet people that grew into my best friends. Abby, Hanna, Delaney-Deanna, Taryn, Kevin, Sarah, all these people have made an impact on my life, helping me through more than they know. As someone who has moved six times in their life, I became comfortable with leaving others behind but these people and the memories we created will stay with me, no matter how cheesy that sounds.

Was there a faculty or staff member, or department that specially helped you land your Next Port?

Two professors come to mind – John White and Faith Claman. John White not only put up with me for three semesters but spent nearly every day helping me understand the information. He supported me through more than just school, truly wanting me to succeed. He cares for others and is the reason I stayed at this school/nursing program. Faith Claman is a phenomenal resource and all-around human. She was excited I was applying to graduate school, reached out to all her connections for me, and aided in my application essays. She was straight-up, real, direct, and it grew me into a better person. I stand behind both of these professors and hope I impacted their lives as much as they impacted mine.
