Study abroad in South Korea for a semester!

Explore one of Asia’s largest cities, Seoul. It is considered the political, financial, and cultural center of Korea, and is well known for its adventure-filled night life. Visit late-night tea houses and markets, learn from its museums, walk around the neighborhoods and enjoy the panoramic views. History meets modern culture between its national park and skyscrappers. Visit the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the N Seoul Tower, and the Namdaemun Market. Use its efficient public transport to explore the city and nearby area on the weekend.  

On this program, you will study at Sogang University (SU). Located in Sinchon, the center of Seoul, the university provides firsthand experience to international students through various student activities. SU offers a variety of courses that will complete major requirements for most majors, as well as Core requirements. Every course is taught in English, though you will have the opportunity to take introductory Korean language courses. The program does not have excursions like other programs; however, we always recommend students to explore the nearby area and treat the streets of Seoul as their own classroom. You will be assigned a Buddy by the student organization Hands Up for Gathering (HUG) to help you acclimate and navigate the city through field trips, parties, tutoring, and many cultural activities.  Live in SU’s residence halls with other U.S. students, international students, and local students as well. 

Our office will be with you every step of the way.  While you apply to this program, you will be able to meet with our staff or one of our Student Advisors who have just returned from their own time abroad. We offer guidance and support during the application process, then we will ensure you are prepared for your trip with mandatory predeparture orientations and informational sessions and continue to work with you as you reintegrate into the UP campus life.  

The cost of this program is similar to the cost of Tuition and Room + Board for a single semester on campus. Institutional aid and scholarships apply. We also have a UP Study Abroad Scholarship you can apply to!
