This Immersion will be offered Fall Break 2023.
Explore issues of immigration and agriculture in Washington’s Yakima Valley. Learn about sustainable farming practices, the realities of the United States’ immigration system, and the challenges for undocumented and migrant farmworkers. Also, learn more about the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation, the original caretakers of the land where this immersion takes place, as well as the descendants who continue to live in the Yakima Valley today. Learn more about experiences of past participants on the Rural Immersion blog.

Will be offered Fall Break 2023
Learn about local urban issues and public policies affecting the houseless and low income communities during this immersion program in downtown Portland during Fall Break (October 16-20). This immersion focuses on meeting with organizations working with people who are houseless, meeting with and learning from people who are houseless, and direct service and hospitality. (Why do we choose to use the term houseless? Read this post from local organization Do Good Multnomah to learn more.)
