Gender Inclusive Housing

up-pride-wheel.jpg

UP is proud to offer gender inclusive housing to all students. The Office of Residence Life strives to provide supportive, safe, and comfortable housing options for everyone. We ensure that students can have roommates who share or affirm their identity. And our entire team is committed to providing safe, affirming, and inclusive communities for all UP students.

To provide an atmosphere of safety and affirmation:

  • Students can update their chosen names and pronouns in our eRezLife housing software.
  • Our housing application each year asks students about their affirmation and comfort with other gender identities. This is especially helpful for roommate pairing.
  • Students can use our eRezLife software to search for and choose roommates who share or affirm their identity (our housing applications always include a link to the Trans Student Educational Resources' definitions list
  • Any students who have questions or need 1-1 assistance can email us at reslife@up.edu to arrange a consult any time. Our Housing Coordinator will help them find the ideal housing assignment. We know that no form or questionnaire will ever encompass every student's unique identities and we are happy to customize a plan to make each student feel at home here on the Bluff.

Students or families with questions or who are in need of assistance can email us at reslife@up.edu to arrange a consult.

In our efforts to best serve all UP students, we are guided by the university’s statement of inclusion, which reads in part:
"every person, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, social or economic class, age, or disability shall be treated with respect and dignity"
